Killemlagh Kirche / Killemlagh Church

In der Ortschaft Keel (An Chill) steht am Glen Friedhof die Ruine der Killemlagh (Cill Imleach - Kirche am Grenzland) Kirche. Der Hl. Finnian von Clonard (470 - 549) soll hier ein Kloster gegründet haben. Die heute noch vorhandenen Überreste gehören zu einer Kirche im romanischen Stil aus dem späten 12. Jahrhundert. Direkt an diese Ruine wurde in der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts eine neue Kirche angebaut, die aber ebenfalls schon verfallen ist. Am Plan beim Eingang ist neben der Kirche auch ein Stein mit Kreuzgravur markiert, der leicht zu finden ist. Dass am Westgiebel der alten Kirche ein Ogham Stein (KE096-009001-) eingebaut wurde, sagt uns der Plan leider nicht.
In the village Keel (An Chill) on Glen Cemetery stand the ruins of Killemlagh (Cill Imleach - church on border land) Church. St. Finnian of Clonard (470 - 549) is said to have founded a monastery on this place. The still existing remains belong to a Romanesque church from the late 12th century. Directly beside this ruin a new church was built in the middle of the 19th century that is also dilapidated. On the plan at the entrance to the cemetery a cross slab is marked that is easily found. But the plan does not tell us that an Ogham stone (KE096-009001-) is incorporated into the west gable of the old church.
