Valentia Island - Skellig Experience

Valentia Island (Dairbhre - Eicheninsel) ist eine ca. 11 mal 3 Kilometer große Insel am Rand der Iveragh Halbinsel. Wir betreten (bzw. befahren) die Insel über die Brücke von Portmagee und kommen direkt zur Skellig Experience. In der Ausstellung erfahren wir viel über das entbehrungsreiche Leben der christlichen Mönche (7. bis 16. Jahrhundert) und das wesentlich bequemere Leben der Leuchtturmwärter (frühes 19. bis spätes 20. Jahrhundert) auf Skellig Michael. Und ein Monitor zeigt Szenen aus Star Wars, die auf Skellig Michael gedreht wurden.

Valentia Island (Dairbhre - oak island) is an island off the Iveragh peninsula, roughly 11 by 3 kilometres in size. We enter the island over the bridge from Portmagee and arrive directly at the Skellig Experience. This exhibition tells us much about the life full of deprivation of the Christian monks (7^th to 16^th century) and the much more comfortable life of the lighthouse keepers (early 19^th to late 20^th century) on Skellig Michael. And a monitor shows scenes from Star Wars filmed on Skellig Michael.
