Der Hügel von Faughart ist seit vorgeschichtlichen Zeiten ein Schauplatz der Geschichte: Die mythischen Figuren Maeve und Cú Chulainn standen sich hier im Kampf gegenüber. Die Hl. Brigid soll in der Gegend geboren worden sein. Und es gab immer wieder Schlachten, in denen auch schon einmal Könige ihr Leben verloren.

Vom Gipfel der Normannischen Motte auf dem Hügel haben wir einen grandioser Blick auf die Bucht von Dundalk und alle umliegenden Berge.

The Hill of Faughart has been the stage of history since pre-historic time: The mythical characters of Maeve and Cú Chulainn faced here each other in combat. St. Brigid is said to have been born in the area. And again and again there were battles, in which even kings lost their lives.

From the top of the Norman motte on the hill we have a terrific view on the bay of Dundalk and all surrounding mountains.
