An der Stelle des alten Gerichtsgebäudes stand während der Rebellion von 1798 ein Haus, das als temporäres Spital benutzt wurde. Nachdem die Briten die Stadt erobert hatten, ließ General Lake Feuer an das Spital legen - ohne es jedoch vorher evakuieren zu lassen. 1820 wurde dann das Gerichtsgebäude errichtet, das 2004 wieder geschlossen wurde. Das Gebäude steht seither leer.

On the site of the old courthouse there was a building that was used as a temporary hospital during the rebellion of 1798. After the British had conquered the town, General Lake had set the hospital on fire - but without evacuating it in advance. In 1820 the courthouse was built and closed again in 2004. Since then the building has been disused.
