Duffry Tor / Duffry Gate

Am 28. Mai 1798 drangen Rebellen unter der Führung von Pater John Murphy durch das Dufry Tor (Geata na Dubhthíre) in Enniscorthy ein und es gelang ihnen die Stadt unter ihre Kontrolle zu bringen.
Heute gibt es das Tor nicht mehr, nur eine kleine Tafel am Rande eines Parks erinnert an die blutige Episode in der Geschichte.
On May, 28th 1798 rebels led by Father John Murphy invaded Enniscorthy through the Dufry Gate (Geata na Dubhthíre) and succeeded in bringing the town under their control.
Today the gate no longer exists, only an informational board on the edge of a park reminds of that bloody episode in history.
