Enniscorthy
Enniscorthy (Inis Córthaidh) wurde zu Beginn des 6. Jahrhunderts vom Hl. Senan am Westufer der Slaney gegründet. Unter den Normannen wurde die Stadt durch eine Burg befestigt und war ein wichtiger Schauplatz bei der Rebellion in 1798. Heute ist sie die zweitgrößte Stadt der Grafschaft Wexford, Sitz des Bischofs von Ferns und administratives und kulturelles Zentrum der Gegend.
Enniscorthy (Inis Córthaidh) was founded at the beginning of the 6th century by St. Senan on the west banks of the Slaney. The town was fortified by a castle under the Normans and was an important stage during the rebellion in 1798. Today it is the second largest town of County Wexford, seat of the Bishop of Ferns and administrative and cultural centre of the area.
