Grand Canal Ringstrecke / Grand Canal Circular Line

Unter der Victoria Eisenbahnbrücke (im Hintergrund des Bildes zu sehen) zweigt der Grand Canal vom inneren Becken des Grand Canal Docks ab und führt dann zwischen Industriebauten zum Grand Canal Basin. Dieser Teil des Kanals ist durch ein Gittertor abgesperrt. Eigentlich ist das hier die Grand Canal Circular Line (Ringstrecke), die im Süden durch Dublin läuft. Erst bei Inichcore beginnt die Hauptlinie. Daher haben alle Schleuse bis dorthin ein vorangestelltes "C".
Under the Victoria railway bridge (in the background of the picture) the Grand Canal branches off from the inner basin of the Grand Canal Docks and then leads between industrial buildings to the Grand Canal Basin. This part of the line is closed off by an iron gate. Actually, this here is the Grand Canal Circular Line, going around Dublin in the south. The main line starts at Inichcore. Therefore all locks until then start with the letter "C".
