Armenhaus / Almshouse

Das Armenhaus wurde von Richard Boyle in der ersten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts erbaut. Die ersten Bewohner waren sechs Witwen, die vom Herzog von Devonshire finanziell unterstützt wurden. Andere Quellen sprechen von sechs Soldaten als erste Bewohner. 1987 ließ das Cork County Council das Haus vollständig renovieren und zu Wohnungen umbauen. Die Vorderseite ist mit dem Wappen der Familie Boyle verziert.

The Almshouse was built by Richard Boyle in the first half of the 17^th century. The first residents were six widows, who were financially supported by the Duke of Devonshire. Other source however give six soldiers as first residents. In 1987 the Cork County Council let the house completely renovate and converted it to accommodations. The façade is decorated with the coat of arms of the family Boyle.
