1798 Monument
Ein überlebensgroßes Denkmal aus 1898 erinnert an den blutigen Kampf vom Arklow am 9. Juni 1798, bei dem die britischen Truppen den Vormarsch der Rebellen Richtung Dublin stoppten. Der Anführer der Rebellen, Pater Michael Murphy, wurde dabei getötet. Auf dem Sockel wird auch anderer Rebellenführer gedacht (Esmond Kyne, Wolfe Tone, Anthony Perry).
A larger-than-life monument from 1898 reminds of the bloody Battle of Arklow on June, 9th 1798 when the British troops stopped the advance of the rebels towards Dublin. The leader of the rebels, Fr. Michael Murphy, was killed that day. On the socket there are also memorials for other rebel leaders (Esmond Kyne, Wolfe Tone, Anthony Perry).
