Desmond Castle stammt aus dem 13. Jahrhundert und liegt direkt an dem kleinen Fluss Maigue, über den eine schmale Brücke aus dem 15. Jahrhundert führt. Leider ist das Schloss bei unserem Besuch wegen Renovierung nicht besichtigbar. Ganz im Bildhintergrund ist noch die Kirche des Franziskanerklosters (15. Jahrhundert) zusehen - aber hier versperrt uns ein Golfplatz den Zutritt.
Desmond Castle dates back to the 13th century and lies on the banks of the Maigue River, over which a bridge from the 15th century leads. Alas, the castle is closed for renovation when we arrive. At the background of the picture the church of the Franciscan Friary (15th century) can be seen - but here a golf course blocks our access.
