Das im klassizistischen Stil erbaute Hauptpostamt von Dublin öffnete 1818 seine Pforten. Im nur sechs Tage dauernden Aufstand in der Osterwoche 1916 war das Hauptpostamt das Hauptquartier der Rebellen und brannte bei den Kämpfen vollständig aus. Erst nach der Gründung der Republik wurde es wieder aufgebaut.
The General Post Office of Dublin built in classic style opened its doors in 1818. During the Easter Rising in 1916 (which lasted only six days) it was the head quarter of the rebels and was destroyed by fire due to the fights. After the founding of the republic it was reconstructed.
