Kinsale
James Fort
After the Battle of Kinsale (1601) had been decided in favour of the British, they built a fort to secure the harbour and named it after King James I. The fort was still of strategic importance during the Williamite War (1688 - 1691, Wilhelm of Orange and James II.), but was afterwards abandoned in favour of Charles Fort and fell to ruins.
