Ballina (Béal an Atha), eine der größten Städte Mayos, ist das wirtschaftliche Zentrum der Gegend. Die Stadt wurde 1729 von Lord Tyrawley an der Mündung des Flusses Moy gegründet. Das markanteste Bauwerk ist die St. Muredach Kathedrale (1894). Außerdem ist Ballina ein berühmter Treffpunkt für Angler (speziell Lachs).
Ballina (Béal an Atha), one of the largest towns of Mayo, is the commercial centre of the area. The town was founded by Lord Tyrawley in 1729 at the estuary of the Moy River. The most dominant building is St. Muredach Cathedral (1894). Further, Ballina is a famous meeting point for anglers (especially salmon).
