Das Kloster von Glanworth (Gleannúir, Eibental) wurde 1475 vom Dominikaner Orden auf Land gegründet, das von der Familie Roche gestiftet wurde. Doch schon 1541 wurde es unter Heinrich VIII. aufgelöst. Vom ehemaligen Klosterkomplex ist nur mehr die Kirche erhalten.
Wir kommen nach Glanworth, um die Kirchenruine zu besuchen, weil sie ein Nationales Denkmal (#558) ist, erfahren dann aber, dass es noch viel mehr zu sehen gibt.
The friary of Glanworth (Gleannúir, yew valley) was founded in 1475 by the Dominican Order on land donated by the family Roche. However it was already dissolved in 1541 under Henry VIII. Of the former friary buildings only the church survived.
We come to Glanworth to visit the church ruin because it is a National Monument (#558), but then learn that there is much more so see.
