Dominikaner Kirche und Priorat zur Hl. Maria / St. Mary's Dominican Church and Priory

Auf den ersten Blick schaut die Dominikaner Kirche zur Hl. Maria mit ihrer klassizistischen Fassade und ohne Glockenturm gar nicht wie eine Kirche aus. Sie wurde in den 1830ern gebaut - also kurz nachdem Katholiken wieder Religionsfreiheit erlangt hatten - der Säulengang wurde 1861 angefügt. Das zur Kirche gehörende Priorat wurde nebenan errichtet und versteckt sich hinter Häusern. Es wurde Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts im Neu-Romanischen Stil erbaut.
Der rechte Turm mit dem Wetterfisch an der Spitze ist der Shandon Glockenturm der Kirche zur Hl. Anna, die etwas weiter nördlich steht.
On first sight St. Mary's Dominican Church does not look like a church at all, with its Neoclassical façade and no bell tower. It was built in the 1830s, shortly after Catholics regained freedom of religion, the portico was added in 1861. The priory belonging to the church was erected close by and hides behind some houses. It was built in the middle of the 19th century in Neo-Romanesque style.
The tower to the right with the weather fish on its top is the Shandon Bells Tower belonging to St. Anne's church standing a little farther to the north.
