Cork
Opernhaus / Opera House
The former "Athenaeum" was opened in 1855 and was the venue for balls, lectures, exhibitions and other events. During a reconstruction in 1877 the building was officially renamed to "Opera house". In the 100th years of its existence, of all times, the house fell victim to a fire. Ten years passed until a new opera house was built that got a modern façade in 2000.
