Browneshill Dolmen

Wenige Kilometer östlich der Stadt Carlow (Ceatharlach) steht der Browne's Hill Dolmen (Dolmain Chnoc an Bhrúnaigh), der auch Kernanstown Cromlech genannt wird. Der Deckstein dieses Steinzeit-Grabes ist mit über 100 Tonnen der schwerste Europas. Die Angaben, wann der Dolmen gebaut wurde, schwanken zwischen 2500 bis 4000 v. Chr. Da hier nie Ausgrabungen stattgefunden haben, ist auch sonst wenig über das Grab bekannt.
A few kilometres to the east of the town of Carlow (Ceatharlach) stands the Browne's Hill megalithic tomb (Dolmain Chnoc an Bhrúnaigh), which is also called Kernanstown Cromlech. The capstone of this Stone Age tomb - weighing more than 100 tons - is the heaviest of Europe. The information on when the dolmen was built fluctuates between 2500 and 4000 B. C. As there have never been excavations in this place, little is known about the grave.
