New Ross

(2003-08-16)

The oldest settlement on the area of New Ross (Ross Mhic Thriúin) is a cloister from the 6th century (at the location where now there is St. Mary's Abbey). In the 13th century Isabella de la Clare had a bridge built across the Barrow River, which lead to the founding of the town. But also recent history is very alive: As the family Kennedy originates from the near-by village of Dunganstown, everywhere commemorative pieces of the Kennedies and especially of JFK can be found.
