Earl of Meath, das Haus erbauen.
The Anglo-Norman Nicholas de la Felde conquered the area around Cill Rotheric near Bray (Bré) in the 13th century and leased it to the Abbey of St. Thomas. In the middle of the 16th century the abbey and with it Killruddery came into the possession of the family Brabazon. About hundred years later, Edward the 2nd Earl of Meath had the house built. At the end of the 17th century, Edward the 4th Earl created the gardens in French-Baroque style, and Chaworth the 6th Earl expanded them. Since the turn of the millennium, John the 15th Earl takes care about restoring the house and the gardens.
Killruddery House and Gardens stretch over an area of about 35 hectares, but are only a small part of the domain of the Brabarzons (which is over 300 hectares), to which also Killruddery Farm belongs.
