Lough Ennell

Die Stadt Mullingar (An Muilleann gCearr) liegt zwischen den beiden Seen Lough Ennell (Loch Aininn) im Süden und Loch Owel (Loch Uail) im Norden, die nach Brüdern aus der keltischen Mythologie benannt sein sollen. Es wird erzählt, dass Jonathan Swift am Ufer des Loch Ennell stand, und angemerkte "Die Leute auf der anderen Seite sehen aus wie Liliputaner." - eine Inspiration für sein bekanntestes Werk. Ihm zu Ehren wurde hier der Jonathan Swift Park errichtet.

The town of Mullingar (An Muilleann gCearr) lies between the two lakes Lough Ennell (Loch Aininn) in the south and Lough Owel (Loch Uail) in the south, which are said to be named after brothers from Celtic mythology. The story goes that Jonathan Swift once stood at the banks of Lough Ennell and remarked that "The people on the other side look like Lilliputians." - an inspiration for his most famous work. To his honour the Jonathan Swift Park was created.
