2025
Bei unseren bisherigen zwölf Besuchen in Irland haben wir schon vieles gesehen, manches sogar mehrmals. Aber auf die Mitte der Insel haben wir (bis auf die Reise entlang der beiden großen Kanäle 2006) nur bei der Durchreise einen Blick geworfen. Daher beschließen wir für 2025 die Liste mit den Sehenswürdigkeiten im Inneren des Landes abzuarbeiten.
Wie es sich herausstellt, ist das nicht sehr üblich, denn als wir mit Einwohnern ins Gespräch kommen, werden wir oft gefragt, warum es uns hierher verschlagen hat. Weil auch wenn es hier keine langen Sandstrände, steile Klippen oder hohe Berge gibt, reichen zwei Wochen nicht aus, um all die großartigen Dinge zu besuchen, die es hier zu sehen gibt.
During our twelve visits to Ireland up now we have seen much, some places even more than once. But on the middle of the island (with the exception of the journey along the two big canals in 2006) we have only cast an eye while travelling through. Therefore in 2025 we decide to work off the list of sites at the inside of the country.
As it turns out, that is not very usual and when we get into conversations with the inhabitants, we are often asked why we ended up here. Because even if there are no long sandy beaches, steep cliffs or high mountains, two weeks are not nearly enough to visit all the great things that can be seen here.
