Der Rundturm ist Teil der alten Klosteranlage und wird auf das 10. Jahrhundert datiert. Die früheste schriftliche Erwähnung ist, dass er in den 1130ern von einem Blitz getroffen wurde. Der Turm ist heute 20 Meter hoch, jedoch wurden 6 Meter von der Britischen Armee abgetragen, nachdem sich bei der Rebellion 1798 Scharfschützen auf ihm versteckt hielten, die die Burg ins Visier nahmen. Bis 1812 fand der Turm als Glockenturm Verwendung, dann übernahm der Turm die Kirche zum Hl. Cronán diese Aufgabe.

Direkt daneben steht ein altes Mühlengebäude, das möglicherweise im 17. Jahrhundert gebaut wurde. Zu Beginn der 2000er wurde es renoviert und ist seit 2004 als Besucherzentrum zugänglich. Hier kann das originale Hochkreuz der alten Abtei bestaunt werden und es finden in den Black Mills Veranstaltungen verschiedener Art statt.

The round tower is part of the old monastery and is dated to the 10th century. The earliest recorded mentioning is that it was hit by lightning in the 1130s. Today the tower in 20 metres high, however 6 metres were removed by the British army after snipers had used it as hide-out to target the castle in the rebellion of 1798. Until 1812 the tower was used as bell tower, then the tower of the newly built St. Cronán's Church took over this duty.

Directly beside it stands an old mill building that possibly was built in the 17th century. At the beginning of the 2000s it was renovated and is open to the public since 2004 as visitors centre. Here the old high cross from the abbey can be marvelled at and events of various kinds take place in the Black Mills.
