Terryglass

Im 6. Jahrhundert gründete St. Columb (Colum Mac Cremthainn) ein Kloster in Terryglass (Tír Dhá Ghlas - Land der beiden Ströme). St. Columb ist einer der Zwölf Aposteln Irlands, im Kloster wurde das Buch von Leinster (eine Sammlung von Geschichten und Gedichten) verfasst. Das Kloster wurde im 12. Jahrhundert zerstört, nur mehr eine Mauer beim Friedhof blieb übrig.

Auf der anderen Seite wird der Friedhof ebenfalls von einer Mauer begrenzt, die einmal zu einem Burghof gehörte. Von der zugehörigen Burg sind keine Überreste geblieben.

In the 6th century St. Columb (Colum Mac Cremthainn) founded a monastery in Terryglass (Tír Dhá Ghlas - land of the two streams). St. Columb is one of the Twelve Apostles of Ireland, the Book of Leinster (a collection of tales and poems) was written in the monastery. The monastery was destroyed in the 12th century, nothing more than a wall at the cemetery remains.

The other side of the cemetery is also delimited by a wall that once was part of a bawn. From the corresponding castle nothing remains.
