1620 ließ Laurence Parsons das erste Schloss um den Torturm der Anglo-Normannischen Festung errichten. In den Unruhen des 17. Jahrhundert wurde das Schloss zweimal belagert. Von etwa 1800 bis 1860 wurde das Schloss mehrfach um Zubauten erweitert und nach einem Brand neu gestaltet.
Heute enthält das Schloss eine große Sammlung antiker Möbel, Gemälden und Porzellan, die von der Familie von ihren Reisen mitgebracht wurden.
Laurence Parsons had the first castle built in 1620 incorporating the old gate tower of the Anglo-Norman stronghold. During the unrests in the 17th century the castle was besieged twice. From about 1800 to 1860 the castle was several times expanded by new wings and reconstructed after a fire.
Today the castle houses a great collection of antique furnishings, paintings and porcelain, brought back by the family from their travels.
