Murrisk Abbey

Am Fuße des Croagh Patrick liegt Murrisk Abbey, die im 15. Jahrhundert von Augustiner Mönchen gegründet wurde. Sie ist der traditionelle Ausgangspunkt der Wallfahrten auf den Berg. Auch wir starten hier unseren Aufstieg, kommen jedoch kaum höher als zu den Knöcheln des Berges. Murrisk Abbey ist Station 6 des Clew Bay Archaeological Trail.

At the foot of Croagh Patrick, there is Murrisk Abbey, founded in the 15th century by Augustinian monks. It is the traditional starting point for the pilgrimage on the mountain. We also start our ascent here, but we barely reach the mountain's ankles. Murrisk Abbey is site 6 of the Clew Bay Archaeological Trail.
