Rundturm / Round Tower

Der Rundturm steht auf einem kleinen Friedhof in der Nähe des Marktplatzes. Jedoch ist er von höheren Häusern umgeben, so dass wir ihn nicht auf Anhieb finden - und der Clones Town Trail verschweigt, dass er am Friedhof zu finden ist.
Der Rundturm wurde im 10. Jahrhundert gebaut und gehörte zum Kloster aus dem 6. Jahrhundert. Er ist etwa 23 Meter hoch, jedoch fehlt die Spitze, die irgendwann im 17. Jahrhundert verloren ging.
The round tower stands on a small cemetery near to the Market Square. However it is surrounded by taller houses, so that we do not find at at the first attempt - and the Clones Town Trail omits that it is located on the cemetery.
The Round Tower was erected in the 10th century and belonged to the monastery from the 6th century. It is about 23 metres high, however its peak got lost somewhere in the 17th century.
