Turmspitze von Lloyd / Spire of Lloyd

Die Turmspitze von Lloyd wurde 1791 vom ersten Graf von Bective zur Erinnerung an seinen Vater, Thomas Taylour, errichtet. Er wurde in der Form eines Leuchtturms gebaut, diente aber als Aussichtsturm. Und auch ohne auf den 30 Meter hohen Turn zu klettern (weil zugesperrt) haben wir eine großartige Aussicht über die Ebenen vom Meath, und angeblich kann man von hier bis zu den Mourne Bergen sehen.
The Spyre of Lloyd was erected in 1791 by the first Earl of Bective in memory of his father, Thomas Taylour. It was built in the form of a light tower, but was used as a viewing tower. And even without climbing up the 30 metres high tower (because it is locked) we have a great view over the plains of Meath, and allegedly even the Mountains of Mourne can be seen from here.
