Priorat zur Hl. Maria / St. Mary's Priory

Nahe dem Haus des Hl. Mochta stehen die Überreste des Augustiner Priorats zur Hl. Maria. Das Priorat wurde Mitte des 12. Jahrhunderts gegründet und ersetzte eine frühere, abgebrannten Abtei. Auch dem Priorat blieb dieses Schicksal nicht erspart - es wurde sogar mehrfach niedergebrannt. Im 17. Jahrhundert wurde das Priorat dann endgültig aufgegeben, verfiel, und wurde danach nur mehr als Friedhof benutzt.
Close to St. Mochta's House there are the remains of an Augustinian priory dedicated to St. Mary. The priory was built in the 12th century, replacing an older abbey that had burnt down. But the priory shared the same fate - actually it was burnt down even several times. In the 17th century it was finally abandoned, fell into ruins and was only used as cemetery afterwards.
