Das über 5 Meter hohe Südkreuz, auch Muiredachs Kreuz genannt, ist das schönste der Hochkreuze. Es stammt aus dem frühen 10. Jahrhundert und ist mit 22 biblischen Szenen geschmückt. Was diese Szenen darstellen, ist selbst unter Kunsthistorikern umstritten.
The South Cross, also called Cross of Muiredach, with over 5 metres in height, is the most impressive of the crosses. It originates in the early 10th century and is decorated with 22 biblical scenes. What is shown in these scenes is still discussed by art historians.
