Toome Bruecke / Toome Bridge

Toome Brücke wurde im Zuge des Baus des Royal Canals um 1815 errichtet. Und obwohl sie den gleichen Namen trägt (es gibt mehrere Townlands Toome in Irland), ist es nicht die Brücke, auf der der Rebell Roddy McCorley hingerichtet wurde (die steht in der Grafschaft Antrim).
Wir finden das Hinweisschild sehr interessant. Während wir noch verstehen, wie sich Radfahrer und Wanderer den schmalen Weg unter der Brücke teilen können, fehlt uns beim Auto jegliche Fantasie.
Toome Bridge was built in the context of the construction of the Royal Canal around 1815. And although it bears the same name (there are several Townlands Toome in Ireland) it is not the bridge on which the rebel Roddy McCorley was executed (that one stands in the County Antrim).
We find the information sign very interesting. While we understand how cyclists and hikers could share the small path below the bridge we lack any imagination when it comes to the car.
