Serpent Lake

(2012-08-21)

The most upward of the four lakes is called Serpent Lake. Here the last snake of Ireland is said to have been resisting St. Patrick after he had cast out all other snakes from Ireland. With a trick the saint could trap the snake within an iron chest and sank it on the ground of the lake, where it is to this day. On certain days the roar of the snake can still be heard.
