Casteltown House wurde als erstes Haus in Irland im Palladianischen Stil erbaut (ein Haupthaus und zwei Nebenhäuser, die mit Säulengängen verbunden sind). Thomas Conolly (der Großneffe von William) and dessen Frau Louisa dekorierten das Innere des Hauses neu, so wie sich das Haus noch heute präsentiert.
Die Familie Conolly bewohnte das Haus bis in den 1960er, später wurde es von der Familie Guinness gekauft, um es vor dem Abriss zu retten. Heute ist es im Besitz des Staates Irland, der es mit viel Aufwand restaurieren ließ und der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich machte (mit Führung).
Casteltown House was the first house in Ireland to be built in Paladian style (one main building and two side buildings that are connected by porticoes). Thomas Conolly (the grand nephew of William) and his wife Louisa redecorated the inside of the house, which is the present appearance of it.
The Conolly family lived in the house until the 1960s, later it was bought by the Guinness family to save it from demolition. Today it is owned by the Irish state, who had it restored with much effort and opened it for the public (with guided tours).
