Kildrought Haus / Kildrought House
Das älteste noch erhaltene der Häuser, die bei der Erneuerung von Celbridge unter William Conolly Anfang des 18. Jahrhundert gebaut wurden, ist Kildrought House. In seinem Namen steckt das anglikanisierte Cill Droichid - Celbridge. Das Haus wurde von Robert Baillie erbaut, der dafür den Architekten Thomas Burgh beauftragte. Ab dem Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts wurde das Haus für verschiedene Zwecke verwendet, bis es um 1850 baufällig geworden war. In den 1980ern erwarben June und William Stuart das Haus, das sie mit Unterstützung der Irish Georgian Society wieder zu seinem früheren Glanz restaurieren ließen.
Kildrought House is the oldest still exisiting example of the houses built during the modernisation of Celbridge under William Conolly at the beginning of the 18th century. Its name contains the Anglicanised Cill Droichid - Celbridge. The house was built by Robert Baillie, who comissioned the architect Thomas Burgh. From the end of the 18th century on the house was used for different purposes until it had fallen into a state of disrepair in 1850. In the 1980s June and William Stuart acquired the house and restored it to its former glory with the support of the Irish Georgian Society.
