Lough Derg

In Portumna gibt es zwei öffentliche Häfen, einen am Shannon und einem am Lough Derg. Wir fahren zum Hafen am Lough Derg (es gibt auch einen Autoparkplatz), weil es von hier nur einige Hundert Meter fußläufig bis zur Abtei und zum Schloss sind. Auf der anderen Seite des Schlossparks ist bereits die Stadt und es gibt vom Hafen einen Fußweg zum Forst.

There are two public harbours in Portumna, one at the Shannon and one at Lough Derg. We drive to the one at Lough Derg (there is a car parking place, too) because from here the abbey and the castle are within walking distance of a few hundred metres. On the other side of the castle park is the town and from the harbour a foot path leads to the Forest Park.
