Gorumna Island

(2012-08-15)

In the south of the Connemara, where the Galway bay begins, there are many isles, of which the three largest one have the names Gorumna (Garmna), Lettermore (Leitir Móir) and Lettermullen (Leitir Meallain). The isles are close to each other and are connected by bridges with each other and with the mainland. The monks, who founded the first settlements on Gorumna in the Middle Ages, most likely still had to use boats to set over.
