Kylemore Abbey
Neugotische Kirche / Neo-Gothic Church

In Erinnerung an Margaret, ließ Mitchell Henry um 1880 eine Kirche im neugotischen Stil errichten. Vorbild waren die großen gotischen Kathedralen, die hier im kleinen Maßstab nachgebaut wurden. Aber anstelle von furchteinflößenden Scheusalen als Wasserspeier, sind hier Engel am Werk. Die Säulen der Kirche bestehen aus Marmor aus allen vier Provinzen Irlands.
In memory of Margaret, Mitchell Henry had built a church in Neo-Gothic style around 1880. It was modelled after the great Gothic cathedrals that were here rebuilt in small scale. But instead of fear-inducing gargoyles, angels have taken over their job. The columns of the church are made of marble from all four provinces of Ireland.
