Entlang der lokalen Straßen, die uns um die Fanad Halbinsel führen, gibt es immer wieder Parkplätze mit einem großartigen Blick auf die Gegend. Schautafeln helfen dem ortsunkundigen Touristen bei der Orientierung. Von diesem Platz aus sehen wir die Mullroy Bucht (An Mhaoil Rua), das flache Stück Grün im Wasser ist Island Roy (Oileán Ruaidh, rote Insel), das eine Gezeiteninsel ist. Die Bewohner der Insel mussten bei Flut auf Stelzen von und zur Insel gehen, bevor 1927 endlich eine Brücke gebaut wurde.
Along the local roads that bring us around the Fanad peninsula, there are often parking places with a great view over the area. Presentation boards help tourists that are unfamiliar with the area to keep their sense of orientation. From this place we see the Mullroy Bay (An Mhaoil Rua), the flat piece of green in the water is Island Roy (Oileán Ruaidh, red island) which is a tidal isle. The inhabitants had to use stilts to get from and to the isle during times of high tide before finally a bridge was built in 1927.
