Der zentrale Platz von Donegal ist - wie bei vielen Orten in Irland - dreieckig und wird "Diamond" (Diamant) genannt. Hier stehen schicke Hotels, Geschäfte und Pubs mit Livemusik dicht beieinander und entsprechend emsig sind die Menschen unterwegs, darunter vielen Touristen. Doch nur ein paar Schritte weg vom Hauptplatz wird das Leben wieder ruhiger.

The central place of Donegal is - like in many towns in Ireland - triangular shaped and named "The Diamond". Here there are fine hotels, shops and pubs with live music at close quarters and accordingly busy the people shuffle around, among them many tourists. But only a few steps away from the town square life becomes much quieter.
