Annalen der Vier Meister / Annals of the Four Masters
After the destruction of the abbey in Donegal, the monks moved to Ballyshannon. There, four of the monks created a compilation of the history of Ireland. From the first settlers (about 3000 B.C.) until the year 1616 A.D., using old sources and manuscripts. Even though the first few millennia are more story then history, the book contains valuable information for historians from about 1500 onwards.
