Vom Malin Head aus sehen wir am Horizont eine kleine Insel. Es ist Inishtrahull (Inis Trá Tholl, Insel des leeren Strandes), der nördlichste Punkt Irlands. Bis in 1920er Jahre war die Insel bewohnt, dann wanderte auch der letzte Einwohner ab. Seither arbeitet nur mehr ein Leuchtturm auf Inishtrahull, der hin und wieder Besuch vom Wartungspersonal oder von Touristen bekommt.
From Malin Head we see a small island on the horizion. It is Inishtrahull (Inis Trá Tholl, island of the empty beach), the most northern point of Ireland. Until the 1920s the island was inhabitated, but then the last resident left it. Since then only a light tower does its duty on Inishtrahull, which now and then is visted by the maintainance staff or by tourists.
