Arthur Edward Guinness, 1. Baron Ardilaun (1840 - 1915) war der Urenkel des Gründers der Guinness Brauerei, Arthur Guinness (1725 -1803), und Miterbe des Familienbetriebs. Er war Abgeordneter des Parlaments für die Stadt Dublin und Mitglied der Irish Unionist Alliance, die für ein weiterbestehen der Einheit zwischen Irland und England eintrat. Nach seinem Rückzug aus dem Brauereigeschäft, wurde er 1. Baron Ardilaun (Ard Oileáin, hohe Insel) von Ashford und wohnte in Ashford Castle, das sein Vater Benjamin Lee Guinness erworben hatte. Wie viele seiner Familie gab Arthur Edward Guinness Geld zum Nutzen für die Allgemeinheit aus. Am bekanntesten ist der Kauf, die Gestaltung und die Öffnung von St. Stephen's Green. Lord Ardilaun ist in der All Saints Church in Raheny, deren Errichtung er gesponsert hatte, beigesetzt.
Arthur Edward Guinness, 1st Baron Ardilaun (1840 - 1915) was the great-grand son of the founder of the Guinness brewery, Arthur Guinness (1725 - 1803), and coheir to the family business. He was a Member of Parliament for the City of Dublin and member of the Irish Unionist Alliance, who advocated the continuation of the unity between Ireland and England. After his redrawal from the brewery business, he became 1st Baron Ardilaun (Ard Oileáin, high island) of Ashford and lived in Ashford Castle, that had been bought by his father, Benjamin Lee Guinness. Like many of his family, Arthur Edward Guinness spend money for the benefit of the community. His best know benefaction is the purchase, landscaping and opening of St. Stephen's Green for the public. Lord Ardilaun is buried in All Saints Church in Raheny, of which he had sponsored the construction.
