Killycluggin Stone

Der Killycluggin Stein ist leicht zu finden - er ist in der Ortschaft Killycluggin, direkt neben der Straße (R205), auf einer Grünfläche bei der Kreuzung nach Bawnboy (An Babhún Buí) und auch gut sichtbar beschildert. Allerdings ist er nur eine Nachbildung des Originals, das zur La-Tène-Zeit (5. bis 1. Jh. v. Chr.) entstand und im Cavan County Museum in Ballyjamesduff ausgestellt wird. Der Stein ist auf allen vier Seiten mit Mustern bedeckt, über deren Bedeutung nur spekuliert werden kann.
Er ist einer von wenigen La-Tène-Steine die in Irland zu finden sind (siehe auch Themenindex).
The Killycluggin stone is easy to find - it is in the village of Killycluggin, directly beside the road (R205), on a piece of lawn at the crossing to Bawnboy (An Babhún Buí) and also signposted well visibly. However, it is only a recreation of the original one that was made during the La-Tène time (5th to 1st century B. C.) and which is displayed in the Cavan County Museum in Ballyjamesduff. The stone is engraved on all four sides, about their meaning can only be speculated.
