Der Hl. Flannan (7. Jahrhundert) war der Sohn von Turlough, König von Thomond. Er trat in das Kloster in Killaloe ein, dessen Abt er später wurde. Flannan wurde vom Papst zum ersten Bischof von Killaloe geweiht. Das nach ihm benannte Gebetshaus wurde im späten 11. Jahrhundert gebaut und ist eine der wenigen Kirchen Irlands mit einem Steindach.
St. Flannan (7th century) was the son of Turlough, King of Thomond. He entered the monastery of Killaloe, of which he later became abbot. The Pope consecrated Flannan as the first bishop of Killaloe. The oratory that is named after him was built in the late 11th century and is one of only a few churches in Ireland with a stone roof.
