Das Nordkreuz ist eine der ursprünglich sechs Kreuze, welche die Grenzen des Klosters markierten. Es wurde, wie auch die Überreste weiterer Hochkreuze, in das Innere der Kathedrale gestellt, um es vor der Witterung zu schützen.
The North Cross was one of the six crosses that marked the borders of the monastery. Like the remains of some other high crosses, it was moved into the inside of the cathedral to protected it from weathering.
